Little Private Gardens

Collaboration with Idan Sidi
Commissioned by Jerusalem Design Week, 2019.
Images by Dor Kedmi and Idan Sidi.

The first garden was the Garden of Eden, located, according to many traditions, in the East, where the sun rises. The Garden of Eden was a closed garden. Following the expulsion of Adam and Eve, humanity wes prevented from ever returning to it. It remained a magical and unattainable place. The desire to return to the garden gave birth to many gardens, from the time of ancient Persia until today. Gardens, closed and private, striving to represent the cosmic order of heaven and earth.

Inside the closed garden of Hansen House lies another garden. A garden of tales. Twelve white columns, which do not reveal their contents. Each of them is a small private garden that holds a story of an local flower. And every one of these gardens has an entrance gate through which only one person can peek. He becomes the sole visitor in the garden, while at the same time remains outside of it.
