Artificial Icebergs

Personal project, 2020.

Training done using RunwayML.
Sound is composed of 2020 BBC Antarctic Midwinter Broadcast on June 21, and recordings from radio aporee.

As global warming increases temperatures, more icebergs are calving from melting ice caps. Global warming is causing more icebergs to form, and these icebergs are melting at a faster rate than icebergs melted in the past.
In light of these rapid changes, one might ask how can we use technology to create new icebergs, to replace those who melted. Using generative adversarial networks (GANs) images of new icebergs are generated, based on existing photographs of icebergs collected on Google images. We should keep in mind, that while images are easy to generate, creating new icebergs is nearly impossible.
